What is Fairtrade?
Good question. There's no-one more qualified than The Fairtrade Foundation themselves to answer that:
"Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world.
Our vision is of a world in which justice and sustainable development are at the heart of trade structures and practices so that everyone, through their work, can maintain a decent and dignified livelihood and develop their full potential."
The foundation was started in 1992 and now operates as an independent, non-profit making that licenses use of the Fairtrade mark on products in the UK in accordance with internationally agreed standards.
Why do we use Fairtrade ingredients?
The desire to mirror The Fairtrade Foundation's cause and to use truly unique products from a great heritage of native farmers made us search for a factory with established connections and a great choice of Fairtrade ingredients.
Like our other environmental values (compostable wrappers and 1% For the Planet member), we wanted to commit to being known as an energy food business that utilised not only scientific methods in creating recipes but in giving a fair deal to Fairtrade farmers.
Which of our products are Fairtrade?
As of February 2014 the following products use Fairtrade ingredients:
MuleBar Energy Bar
ReFuel Protein Bar
