In Paul's own words:
"After joking around with Richard Felton at Profeet about someone running an ultra distance World Record in the shop, we finally got it arranged and on Saturday I made an attempt in the store at the 50k World record.
After an amusing false start as the treadmill set off at 16mph instead of 16kph whilst I did a terrible job of hiding my concern, we got under way again for real at the correct speed!
Precor had loaned us 2 treadmills so I had company at points from some great runners. James Elson (Centurion Running), Robbie Britton (inov-8), Abdi Dhuhulow, Richard Ashton (UK Fashion Icon), Mark Perkins (Centurion Running) and Chris Mills.
After a reasonably conservative start that would ensure the record was broken it felt very comfortable up to about marathon distance. Looking back there is plenty of tiem to be taken off by being less conservative but it all went to plan and we ended up with 3:05:37 which is 3 minutes 31 seconds under the previous record."
