Amy Beeton High on Everest

22.05.2007 - Amy summited Mount Everest in Alpine style at 8.08 in the morning. This is a special moment because we are very proud of Amy.

In her own words:

24.05.2007

I have, literally, just arrived five minutes ago, back safely to Base Camp. Thought I'd get on the key board immediately before folks start writing War and Peace (I can talk, of course).

I wont go into detail now as I need to wash. I have never smelt like this in my life. My body has been battered. Absolutely battered.

The ascent and descent was tough. Some one has just told me that I look as if I've been beaten up. We all look exceptionally drawn. However, outside this tent the team are whooping and shouting and drinking BEER!

Our journey has been epic. It hasn't sunk in yet. A lot has taken place, including three deaths, a very near death/rescue and a very bad accident. Lots to tell and lots to learn from. I will tell you about this when I get the opportunity. Right now, I am growing dizzier by the second as the BEER seeps into the cells of my dehydrated body.

I am one of a few British women to have summited Everest. That is also a very weird fact. I am already looking forward to my next expedition
